VCU's prohibition of concealed weapons on campus was the focus of a student debate Wednesday in the Commons Plaza.
On Sept. 17, James "Jimbo" Wales, founder of the popular online encyclopedia Wikipedia, posted this one-sentence article: "Mzoli's Meats is a butcher shop and restaurant located in Guguletu township near Cape Town, South Africa." What happened next made the online world stand still.
Female soldiers are under represented and stereotyped, but the world has much to learn from them, said Laura Browder, professor of English, at Tuesday's Elske v. P. Smith Lecture, "When Janie Comes Marching Home," at the University Student Commons. Browder was the recipient of the lecturer award, which is given to a faculty member who expands the scope of research at the university, said Dean of the College of Humanities and Sciences, Robert Holsworth.
