Drag ball to come to VCU

"There is freedom in drag," said Jeremy Kidd, Queer Action president. "This is a new experience for VCU. There hasn't been anything like this here before, and we want people to learn more about transgenders." Queer Action is sponsoring Saturday's Drag Ball in the University Student Commons to get the word out about different types of lifestyles and to encourage activism in the gay community.

Artwalk lights up East Broad Street

Abandoned buildings . . . construction signs . . . dark alleys. In the evenings, this is the usual canvas of East Broad Street. But one night of each month sets itself off from the rest - bright lights pour onto the street from open art galleries and music echoes around every corner.

Threats to man who shot domino-toppling sparrow An animal worker who shot a sparrow after it almost wrecked a world record domino-toppling bid has asked for police protection after receiving death threats. Several international animal rights groups expressed outrage over the killing of the sparrow that toppled 23,000 of the four million dominos set up for record attempt in Holland.

Movie Review

The Island Ewan McGregor plays Lincoln Six-Echo. He is the resident of a seemingly Utopian facility in the 21st century. Here people wait to be chosen for a shot at living outside the facility's walls. Unfortunately, there is only one uncontaminated spot left in the planet.
