A gallon of gas costs 34 cents, a gallon of milk is $1.08, and a new Volkswagen Beetle costs a mere $1,800. Cell phones and extreme airport security don't exist. It may sound like an episode of the "Twilight Zone," but it's actually the U.S. in 1968, the year in which "Wait Until Dark," Theatre VCU's first show of the season, is set.
"Wait Until Dark" has been running on a tight schedule since production began. Normally the cast would have been picked by the end of last semester. Instead, casting for the play began the day after school opened this fall, and rehearsals started immediately.
In its 15th year, VCU's Fall Block Step Show has risen to a new level of performance with louder steps and a more organized show. Despite not having an afterparty, the show was a crowd pleaser. Senior Joe Ellis, a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., said he wasn't disappointed about the university not having an afterparty.
"Tale of the Three Jewels" tells the tale of Yusef, a 12-year-old boy growing up in the Gaza Strip, where people live in fear because of military violence. His father is in jail. His brothers are on the run. He lives in poverty with his mother and sister.
