POQUOSON, Va. (AP) - Plywood planks across a muddy yard lead to a vinyl-sided beige rancher that looks like typical new construction, but the cheerful gray-haired men and women rolling and brushing primer on the walls inside are not your average construction crew.

Civil War center will tell three sides of conflict

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - A national Civil War center being built downtown will tell the story of the conflict from the often contrasting perspectives of Union supporters, Confederates and black Americans. On April 22, ground is to be broken for the first phase of The American Civil War Center at Historic Tredegar.

Rural schools' lawsuit delayed by judge slaying

ATLANTA (AP) - A lawsuit filed against the state by dozens of poor, mostly rural school systems will be delayed because it was assigned to slain Fulton County Superior Court Judge Rowland Barnes. Barnes was shot and killed in his courtroom March 11. Police say Brian Nichols, who was facing trial on a rape charge, killed the judge, his court reporter and two other people during a shooting rampage.
