A discussion sponsored by the VCU group Queer Action about gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender politics began in disappointment for some Thursday night. The debate was originally scheduled to include representatives from Virginia Partisans, Log Cabin Republicans and Libertarian party.

The Filippo Mazzei Italian-American Cultural Society has big plans this year. Alexander Marra, who founded it in his first year at VCU, said he wants to host an Italian film festival comparable to VCU's French Film Festival. Marra, a 21-year-old history major, is president of the organization.
VCU has a multitude of cultural and ethnic organizations all based around the central idea of introducing VCU students to various cultures. The Vietnamese Student Association is one such group. Junior Phuong Nguyen is at the helm of VSA, which boasts more than 100 members.
